Come join us to celebrate paddle sports in North Carolina State Parks!

• Kayak and paddleboard vendors!
• Paddle tours, workshops and demos!

Education theme… “Paddle thru time” 

 

Displays of ancient Indian Canoes with interactive lessons on how canoes were made thousands of years ago.  Paddle through time displays will lead from the beginning of paddling thru to modern paddling.  Lots of youth activities and demonstrations.

The Pirate Paddle Scavenger Hunt

SATURDAY | 9:30 AM

COST: $10

•  The event is a one mile linear fun paddle and optional scavenger hunt.
•  Register online at ncpaddle.org or at 8:30am on event day.

•  Release forms to be completed on event day.

•  A parent signature is required for all participants under the age of 18 years.  Youth 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

•  Must provide own boat, paddle and USCG Type III rated life vest.

•  Any paddle craft is permitted.
•  Paddle begins at 9:30am.
•  Participants are encouraged to dress up or decorate boats Pirate Style. Prizes will be awarded.
• Scavenger hunt participants will be directed to locate items in Davey Jones Locker.  The first back to the dock with correct locker items wins a prize.

• Fee is $10.00 per person and all proceeds will support Swansboro parks and recreation services.

• All participants will receive an event shirt.

 

 

Race for the Mullet Cup

SUNDAY | 9:00-10:30am

Registration begins at 8:30am

• The 4th annual competitive race will follow a 3K marked trail through the nearby marsh waters.

• Register online at ncpaddle.org or at 8:30am on event day.

• Release forms to be completed on event day.

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age to participate.

• Any single-seated kayak, sit-on-top, or surf ski is permitted.

• Must provide own boat, paddle and USCG Type III rated life vest.

• Race begins at 9:30am.

• The race is non-sanctioned, unofficially timed and will run clockwise along planned course.

• Fee is $25.00 per person and all proceeds will support Swansboro parks and recreation services.

• All participants will receive an event shirt and goody bag.

For the first time, Dragon Boating is coming to Onslow County, NC! This inaugural festival will take place at Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro. The event is now open for team registration.Forming a dragon boat team is easy! Included in your team registration is a practice session where we will show you how to paddle and race. Practices sessions and race day include all of the necessary equipment such as a boat, paddles, lifevests, a drum and a steersperson/coach. Find yourself 10 co-workers, friends and/or family members to join you in this exciting event! Safety:

  This event will follow a strict float plan. The plan will dictate the times and duration of all in-water events. The Incident Command System will be active for this event. Park safety officer, Yancy King, will provide the mobile command center. The command center will handle all park communication. The ICS will organize the working structure of the event. There will be trained park staff in kayaks and powerboats on stand-by in and out of the water. All participants will be required to wear PFD’s when on the kayak and floating docks
